About Echo Acupuncture

Gunjan

I fell in love with acupuncture in 2011 when I was looking for affordable care for my mental health in a safe community setting. I graduated from the SSC & Acupuncture Institute in Toronto in 2015 and became a registered acupuncturist in 2016. I worked at community acupuncture clinics across Toronto from 2016 to 2019. I've organized healing justice projects like the People's Healing Fund, BIPOC Grief Circle, as well as movement care support, NADA circles, pop-up healing events and more.

From 2022 to 2024, I took a two year sabbatical to recover from burnout and to dive deeper into the impacts of digital technologies on our personal, interpersonal, and collective health. (For more on this, see @Very_Offline_Club).

Since 2024, I've returned to the medicine with more of myself, a greater understanding of my neurodivergence, and eager to support my communities with the skills and knowledge I've gained over the last decade+ of this work.

I have advanced training in supporting folks through fertility, pregnancy, psycho-emotional conditions, gender affirming care, and I bring my background in politicized somatics and community organizing to trauma informed care.

I especially love supporting folks who don't typically see themselves in 'wellness' spaces - working class, BIPOC, disabled, neurodivergent, queer and trans folks. Feel free to ask about sliding scale spots.

I primarily practice a methodology called the Balance Method/System, from the lineage of Richard Tan through Sifu Sonia Tan, which is a style of acupuncture that uses points away from the "sick" area to avoid aggravating it further. It's known for the immediacy of its results and effectiveness over the long term. I also incorporate cupping, Gua Sha, Tui Na (Chinese meridian massage), and bodywork as appropriate.

So what is acupuncture good for?

In my clinic, I treat everything from chronic pain, endometriosis, fibromyalgia flares, frozen shoulder, anxiety, burnout, depression, autoimmune conditions, repetitive motion injuries, muscle strains and sprains, post-concussive syndrome, stress, grief, and more.

I am a queer AuDHD punjabi immigrant-settler, & survivor, and I believe in the power and necessity of healing in collective struggle.
